Hello, I am a senior at Kean University and I’m majoring in Public Relations. I don’t know what type of career I want be in after I graduate and relocate to Charlotte, NC. When I first enter college my major was Marketing because I enjoy researching but I changed it to PR because my math skills were not the best. All my part-time jobs always dealt with customer service since I enjoy helping other, but I wouldn’t consider myself an extroverted person. I’m considering starting a career in HR, Banking, Marketing, or health care. I’m not sure which one I would be more suited towards. Any suggestions?

Wow!  You are casting a wide net! It is time to do some information interviewing.  That may require a little temporary extroversion on your part.  Talk to people - parents, neighbors, friends, professors about what your goals are and that you would like to have in informal information interview with people in the roles and working at the companies you are interested in.  This is an opportunity to talk with people who know what its like to work in those industries, but more than that, they can talk about the skills they have that make them great at it and the reason they love it.

If I could go back and start my career over, I would ask more people just that...Why do you love what you do?  You will likely work for a long time, it doesn't have to be amazing every day, but a solid dose of "I like this!" or "I'm happy here!" will go a long, long way towards making a future you want.

Best of luck!
