How can I figure out what my starting salary might be, or how much I should ask for?

Hi there - there are lots of tools out there to help you research salary ahead of a potential interview. My two favorites are PayScale.com and Glassdoor. One thing to keep in mind is that salary is dependent on your level of experience as well as geographic area / cost of living, so make sure to consider that as well. I hope this is helpful - best of luck! -Phil

This is a great question! There are a couple of ways you can find out what your starting salary expectations should be. As mentioned below, Glassdoor is a good way to see information regarding specific companies. If you receive an offer from a company and you are trying to determine if it is competitive, you could also google the average salary of the position in the area you would be working. Depending on where you are located, your offer could be more to account for cost of living. If you are about to graduate and don't know where your salary expectation should be, sometimes universities will report the average starting salaries by major. My biggest piece of advice here would be to do some research via google, career services, and other students to gain a better understanding of what your expectations should be and if an offer is competitive.
